Zucker-Gyarfas Duo \ Hainesii

American multi-instrumentalist Gabriel Zucker (piano, synth, voice) and Hungarian drummer Attila Gyárfás are a small band with a huge psychedelic sound. Living in separate continents, Zucker and Gyárfás have developed the unique synergy of their wide-ranging and ambitious duo project playing in diverse venues around the world — from candle-lit jazz clubs in Budapest, Istanbul, Edinburgh, and New York, to DIY warehouse spaces in St. Louis and Timişoara. The duo’s performances are immersive musical journeys, careening seamlessly between passages of complex contrapuntal chamber music, alternative rock anthems, mixed-meter jazz, intimate lullabies, and noisy improvised soundscapes.

Hainesii is a project by Max van Westerop (composer, guitarist, producer) in which themes of mortality, care and the heart are explored whilst drawing inspiration from genres like ambient music, post-rock and tinges of free jazz. In its core, Hainesii's material is songwriting as seen through the lens of the aforementioned styles and genres.

Hainesii exists in various live-iterations: solo or joined by Maas Van Gogh on saxophone and Tijmen Aalberts on drums which opens the door for extended improvisation and heightened intensity.
