SHADE is a project of original compositions which draw inspiration from a wide-ranging array of musical genres. Jazz, folk, fusion and rock all come together in the band's repertoire. But SHADE’s music is also set to convey an atmosphere reminiscent of the Scandinavian musical landscapes and the deriving mood is of gloomy nostalgia and alienation with a sour contrast of bright hopefulness. Guitar is the protagonist in this music, with haunting arpeggi or quasi-minimalistic rhythmically shifting riffs. The band’s playing main focus is on portraying a vibe of unpredictability and of high interplay, questioning the definition of groove and at the same time defying the dogmas of style and genre.
