Rebetiko evening at Touchstone

The duet of Kostis Katsibras (guitar, vocals) and Stelios Ladopoulos (bouzouki, vocals) brings to life the sounds of Greek urban folk and rebetiko music , performing songs from the 1930s to 1960s by composers such as Vasilis Tsitsanis, Manolis Chiotis, Apostolos Chatzichristos, Kostas Skarvelis, and Giannis Papaioannou.

Their sound captures the nostalgia of the gramophone era, blending the warm acoustic tones of the bouzouki and guitar with the art of "primo segonto" vocals. The performance evokes the atmosphere of the mid-war rebetiko scene, while offering fresh interpretations through subtle improvisation and unique arrangements.
