Rebetiko evening

Kostis Papasideris (bouzouki/voice) and Giorgos Goudousakis (guitar/voice) are a Rebetiko music duo playing together for the past 10 years. Rebetiko is an urban folk music genre of Greece that was formed in Athens and Piraeus between 1930-1950 and described through music stories about love, poverty, crime and all the aspects of the every day life mostly of the low class people. Their repertoire focuses on the golden era of Rebetiko music of the 30s and 40s performing songs of Markos Vamvakaris, Vasilis Tsitsanis, Giannis Papaioannou , Giorgos Mitsakis and many more. Combining the melodies of the bouzouki with the typical accompaniment of the guitar they try to create the original sound and atmosphere of the rebetiko music. Rich harmonies, traditional rhythms and unknown stories aim to travel the audience to the old taverns of Athens and Piraeus where rebetiko music was born.
