About the event
DE KLIJN / LIPOWICZ
DE KLIJN / LIPOWICZ is a guitar duo focusing on improvisation and interplay that explores the possibilities of how two electric guitars can sound together. The first concrete result of this exploration resulted in the EP ‘Stereo Talk’ (2023). Both players have an eclectic musical background including jazz, rock, ambient/noise and pop projects. This musical history comes to fruition in a jazz duo that doesn’t shy away from opening up their sound with the use of effect pedals, writes playful compositions and makes excursions into different genres.

Myrthe van de Weetering & Thijs de Klijn
Myrthe van de Weetering and Thijs de Klijn are a duo that stands out with their fresh and modern sound, while still being pleasantly warm and accessible. Thijs is ‘an adventurer’ on the guitar, while Myrthe has ‘a voice as soft as silk’ and her own unique playing style. They both have a love for effect pedals, a background in composition, and listen to everything that is good without worrying about genre boundaries. You can hear this in their music, as well as their years of friendship and countless hours of playing together. In late 2023, Van de Weetering released her second album 'Ghazal', a fusion of music and poetry with a message. The poems call for awareness of people with mental health issues, native American poetry, and a poem from someone who is consciously homeless. The music is diverse, yet there is a clear thread running through it, both in terms of sound and content, with the theme of 'Inner world vs. outer world'. Together with Thijs, she has rearranged her compositions for a duo setting. You can hear the result during their concert.”
